Styling your bed like a pro

An easy way of making your bedroom look stylish and like it belongs in an Interior Design magazine is to make sure that your bed is well made. Read on for tips on how best to dress your bed...

First thing first of course is to make your bed - once you have made it ,you can run an iron over the duvet, set on cool, to smooth out any creases and make the bedding look smooth and crisp. A sure way of making your bed look luxurious and designer styled is by adding cushions. Use a variety of sizes to add depth and different textures for visual interest. Use 2 large cushions first, propped up on your pillows. Next add 2 or 3 smaller cushions in front of them, pointing down in a diamond shape. Finish with an accent cushion, this one can be embellished or different to the others in some way. To make sure the arrangement looks neat and professional stand a distance away and look closely at the placement of the cushions and make sure they line up correctly.

A folded throw or blanket across the bottom of a bed really finishes off the designer look by adding  another dimension to your bedding. Make sure you fold it downwards so it covers the bottom third half of the bed. This creates a layered perspective, showing your duvet while still allowing your cushions to be an eye catching focal point. In the absence of a throw, you can fold your duvet down just underneath your pillows - showing the duvets underside works especially well if it is patterned on both sides. Don't be afraid to mix patterns in your choice of cushions, you don't have to be limited to a single print. Mixing patterns adds visual interest but as a general rule keep the theme and colours the same or complimentary.

I hope you enjoy trying out different colours and textures when dressing your bed, do please share what you achieved below in the comments.
