Rainbow Bright

If you are redecorating a room in your home, you might be nervous about adding colour in case it looks too overdone but by following a very easy system you can get the balance just right. If you haven't heard of the golden rule when it comes to colour this is it:  60 - 30 - 10.
This proportion gives balance to colours used in any space and is a very simple concept to use.

How to implement the 60-30-10 rule
60% is the main colour used in your room; in a living room for example this would most likely be the walls, maybe also the sofa and rugs. The 30% is the secondary colour, you will use half as much of this as your main colour - curtains, painted furniture, a feature wall and maybe accent chairs. The second colour must support the main but also be different from it enough to provide interest to the room. 10% is for accent colour; in a bedroom this could be bedside lamps and accent pillows and for a lounge include decorative accessories, art work and cushions. Using the 60-30-10 rule makes it much easier to achieve a balanced look for your room when you want to add colour, using a colour wheel can help you to choose the colours which will give you the look you want.

I hope this helps you with your home design projects, good luck and have fun!!
